Jodis artists statement and photos of work

The bunker project to me is about giving people a reason to reconsider what they may have previously written off, whether that be the space itself, notions about art, waste, or how one can build community.

I think the space requires you to consider how you're moving through it; it slows you down a bit because there is a lot to take in as far as textures, colors, decay, nature taking back over as well as the shifts of the light that you have to navigate. I hope my work speaks to and increases this aspect of the space and allows for a moment of pause. The work references altars and shrines that call for reverence or meditation which sort of point back to my experiences growing up in church as well as being a military brat. These things overlapped and intertwined and as I considered these things the bunker became a metaphor for what we do to protect what we love.
